About The Event
Clojure/north is Canada's first Clojure conference. It is a non-profit event from the Clojure community for the community. Our goal is to share knowledge and be an accessible, enjoyable event for newcomers and veterans to Clojure.

In order to be an accessible event for newcomers as well as those familiar with Clojure there are two streams -- one which focuses on advanced topics using the language, and one that's less technical and either more introductory or focused on how Clojure is used in real-world situations. Of course you're not limited to either and can swap between the two as often as you like during the event.

How to get there?
The hotel is located at 145 Richmond Street, Toronto, ON M5H 2L2. You can click on the link to go to Google Maps and ask for directions.
If you are coming from the airport, you can take a taxi or rent a car from the airport and drive to the location by heading south on highway 427, turning east onto the Gardiner Expressway, and taking the Bay Street exit. Public transit options include taking the "UP Express" from the UP Express terminal at Pearson Airport to Union, then boarding the subway heading north towards Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station for three stops, getting off at Osgoode Station.
Generally speaking, from within the city you can get there on public transit if you get off the subway at Osgoode station and walk south. If you are taking a streetcar, you would take the Queen streetcar exiting at Unviersity and walk south, or King streetcar exiting at University and walk north.
Toronto has a public bikeshare service that you can look into during your stay here. There is a $15 three-day pass.
You may also be interested in various TTC (public transit system) day passes or other passes.

There are many hotels near the venue, including the venue itself. Below are some that are in walking distance of the event venue.

What to do in Toronto?
The event venue is smack dab in the centre of downtown so you'll have plenty of options!
Just to name a few there is the iconic CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), St. Lawrence Market, and the Eaton's Centre.
While Toronto is a more walkable city than most North American cities, it isn't as walkable as any major European city. You may want to consider a bike or transit pass while here if you wish to explore the broader city.

How do I use a student discount?
Please send us an email at hello@clojurenorth.com with a copy of some sort of verification you're enrolled in a post-secondary institution (student ID, timesheet, formal verification from institution, etc.), and we will reply to you with details on how to get your discounted ticket.

Code of Conduct
All attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers for Clojure/north are required to agree to the event code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to establish a safe environment for all.

The Quick version
We are dedicated to provide a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.
The Less Quick Version
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified as they'll be wearing branded volunteer buttons.
Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.
We expect participants to follow these rules at conference and workshop venues and conference-related social events.
